Annual Report 2016
KNLT had another very productive year with many conservation victories to celebrate. The following are a few highlights from 2016.
– The acquisition of 2,050 acres outside of Pineville establishing The Narrows Preserve, a key link in the Great Eastern Trail. Read More
– The protection of 651 acres between Pineville and Harlan in Bell County. These tracts contain unique rock outcrops, rare plants and bottomland hardwood forests. Read More
– The Imperiled Bat Conservation Fund, a partnership between KNLT and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, helped protect nearly 6,000 acres in 2016.
Our conservation successes are made possible by our broad support base of individuals, board members and key partners such as the Snowy Owl Foundation and The Forecastle Foundation, along with lead gifts from longtime supporters, Christina Lee Brown and Tom Dupree, Sr. We are very grateful for their support of our efforts to protect Kentucky’s wildlands.
