Annual Report 2015

KNLT had a very productive 2015 with many conservation victories to celebrate. The following are a few highlights.

– The acquisition of over 1,000 acres within the original Blanton Forest preserve design. This included 966 acres on the south face (highlighted in the report) and another 54 acres on the north face acquired at the end of the year.

– The protection of a key habitat for the Kentucky Glade Cress, a tiny endemic plant found nowhere else in the world except a small portion of Bullitt and Jefferson counties.

– The Imperiled Bat Conservation Fund, a partnership between KNLT and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, helped protect land adjacent to Bernheim Forest and Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge.

Our conservation successes are made possible by our broad support base of individuals, board members and key partners such as the Snowy Owl Foundation and The Forecastle Foundation, along with lead gifts from longtime supporters, Christina Lee Brown and Tom Dupree, Sr. We are very grateful for their vision to protect Kentucky’s wildlands.
